As an institution conducting postgraduate education, instruction, scientific research, and implementation, the Social Sciences Institute of Aksaray University was established in Aksaray, affiliated with the Rectorate of Aksaray University, to fulfill its duties of acting with social awareness, conducting scientific studies and research, and acquiring theoretical knowledge in the social and human sciences. This establishment was carried out under "Additional Article 64 added to the Higher Education Institutions Organization Law No. 2809 dated 28.03.1983, via Article 1 of Law No. 5467 enacted on 01.03.2006 regarding amendments to the Law on the Organization of Higher Education Institutions, the Higher Education Law, the Public Financial Management and Control Law, and Decree Law Nos. 78 and 190 of the Wireless Law." With the appointment of a Director on 06.08.2008, the Institute became academically active, and postgraduate education and organizational activities commenced within the university.
